WHAT IS THE SACARAMENT OF CONFIRMATION?
Bishop Robert Barron reflects in a more universal way what it means to take this sacramentum, or sacred oath, and become a confirmed member of Christ's mystical body.
The Sacrament of Confirmation enables the baptized person to be enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit and unites them to the Catholic Church to become true witnesses of Jesus Christ. If you are an adult and would like to learn more about receiving the sacrament, please visit the OCIA page. GUIDLINES FOR CHOOSING A CONFIRMATION SAINT
As you prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation you are asked to choose a Confirmation saint as your patron/patroness. At your Confirmation you will be confirmed using this name. You may choose your Baptismal name, select a name from the Bible, or a saint (canonized, blessed, or servant of God) of the Catholic Church. The saint you choose should reflect a devotion you have to the saint, virtues or gifts to which you aspire, or the patron saint of certain gifts that are dear to you.
1. Read and learn about several saints and their lives before making your choice. You can choose a saint of either gender.
2. Pray about the saint you are considering.
